Porsche Mission E Electric Sports Car One Step Closer to Debut

Porsche Mission E Goes From Concept to Contender

Porsche’s first venture into the all-electric sports car segment is one step closer to fruition with the news that the German automaker is moving forward with production of the Porsche Mission E.

Originally introduced as a concept in 2015, the Porsche Mission E will feature a futuristic, unmistakably-Porsche style characterized by purposeful curves, a profoundly flat hood, and a low center of gravity. It will harness the power of two permanent magnet synchronous motors (PSM) — reminiscent of those found in the Porsche 919 Hybrid — to generate up to 600 horsepower of mind-boggling performance.

But that’s just the beginning. The Porsche Mission E also promises the following specs:

  • 300-mile-plus range

  • 15-minute approx. charge time per 250 miles

  • Variable AWD System w/ Porsche Torque Vectoring

  • Matrix LED headlights

  • Face-tracking system

  • Holographic display w/ touch-free controls

Implementing a cutting-edge turbo-charging concept, the Porsche Mission E is expected to compete right away with the segment’s premier brands.
