Your Baby is Safer Because of LATCH

You're driving along, glancing at your baby in the rearview mirror, when you suddenly slam on your brakes to avoid the car that pulled out in front of you. It's a fairly common scenario, and if you've ever been in this situation, you were sure glad that your son or daughter was in their car seat. And if you don't already have one, you should know that LATCH devices can make it even easier to ensure that your child's seat is securely fastened.

LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children, and this type of attachment hardware makes it easier to ensure that the fasteners that keep the car seat that your child is sitting in latches securely. Researchers have found that parents are more likely to correctly install the car seat if certain criteria for the LATCH hardware are met. In 2015, LATCH was first created to encourage car manufacturers to create hardware that's easy to use.
