911 GT3 R Hybrid's World Debut in Geneva

The 911 GT3 R Hybrid is a perfect example of the Porsche Intelligent Performance philosophy, a principle to be found in every Porsche: More power on less fuel, more efficiency and lower CO2 emissions – on the track and on the road.

With Porsche's 911 GT3 R with innovative hybrid drive making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Porsche takes up another visionary driving concept into the future. The innovative hybrid technology featured in the car has been developed especially for racing, standing out significantly in its configuration and components from conventional hybrid systems. In this case, electrical front axle drive with two electric motors developing 60 kW each supplements the 480-bhp four-litre flat-six at the rear of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid. A further significant point is that instead of the usual batteries in a hybrid road car, an electrical flywheel power generator fitted in the interior next to the driver delivers energy to the electric motors.
The flywheel generator is charged whenever the driver applies the brakes, with the two electric motors reversing their function on the front axle and acting themselves as generators. Then, whenever necessary, that is when accelerating out of a bend or when overtaking, the driver is able to call up extra energy from the charged flywheel generator, the flywheel being slowed down electromagnetically in the generator mode and thus supplying up to 120 kW to the two electric motors at the front from its kinetic energy. This additional power is available to the driver after each charge process for approximately6 - 8 seconds.

Energy formerly converted – and thus wasted – into heat upon every application of the brakes, is now highly efficiently converted into additional drive power.
Depending on racing conditions, hybrid drive is used in this case not only for extra power, but also to save fuel. This again increases the efficiency and, accordingly, the performance of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid, for example by reducing the weight of the tank or making pitstops less frequent.

Porsche’s quest for speed never ends…

When the Porsche GT9 supercar hit 254 mph last year setting the official world record for the fastest speed on street-legal tires, it was considered a significant milestone. But as far as Porsche is concerned, that's already history and the future has already taken shape.

Brian Harris Porsche, your premier Porsche dealer in the Baton Rouge region is excited to bring you some thrilling bit of news!

This year, the 9ff is back with the new GT9-R that should hit 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds, then 186 mph in 15.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 257 mph to claim the production car world record. And the GT9-R does it with only six cylinders.

The heavily modified, turbocharged 4.0L boxer six-cylinder motor will be seen in three levels starting at 750 hp, then 987 hp, and finally the full 1120 hp. This makes the base car good for a top speed of 236 mph and the mid-range build capable of a top speed of 254 mph. And the engine can be upgraded to the next power level at any time!

Stay tuned with Brian Harris Porsche for more updates happening at Porsche! Check out the latest Porsche models, read reviews and even schedule your test drives online!

Porsche set to break the speed record with GT9-R Supercar

Speed thrills! Porsche knows this better than any other automaker. That's why after breaking Bugatti Veyron's speed record by hitting 254 mph last year, Porsche comes back with its new GT9-R Supercar to eclipse the all-time record, that's currently holding by SSC Ultimate Aero, to claim the title once and for all. Brian Harris Porsche, the leading Porsche dealer in Baton Rouge and New Orleans Louisiana is proud to bring you this latest Porsche news and is excited to witness the moment when the new GT9-R Supercar touches the speed barrier of 257 mph to claim the production car world record.

The astounding fact is that, GT9-R Supercar is making its speed record breaking attempt with only six cylinders. The heavily modified, turbocharged 4.0L boxer six-cylinder motor will deliver 1120 hp in the top-of-the-line trim level. The power is transferred to the wheels either through a six-speed manual or a six-speed sequential automatic. However, the 750-hp base model's engine is paired with a five-speed Tiptronic automatic. Loosely based on the Porsche 911, the GT9-R features lightweight construction throughout, from its tube frame to its carbon-Kevlar body and will be outfitted with the interior the way you want to pay for it.

Porsche Pre-owned Certified Car Program goes down well with U.S. motorists

Brian Harris Porsche, the leading Porsche dealer in Baton Rouge and New Orleans Louisiana is proud to inform you that the Porsche Approved pre-owned vehicle program has proved to be a great success. This is evident from the fact that over 70% of all the vehicles built by Porsche are still on the road. Apart from the quality of Porsche models, it's the inspection process, warranty coverage and Assistance Program that come standard with the Porsche Approved pre-owned vehicle program that has made it a huge success.

Not all Porsche cars earn the "Porsche Approved" title. Porsche picks only the best cars and does a meticulous 100+-point inspection and rigorous reconditioning process before giving the 'pass' certificate. To be eligible, the vehicle must be no older than 8 years from the original in-service date and have less than 100,000 accumulated miles on the odometer. The program also offers two distinct limited Porsche warranty coverage.
  • Limited warranty covers up to 6-years / 100,000-miles - whichever comes first and providing that the vehicle is still under the new car limited warranty.

  • Limited warranty that covers 2-years / 50,000-miles - depending on which comes first, based on the date of the sale and to a total of 100,000-miles.

You can also enjoy a roadside assistance program for the duration of the Porsche Approved limited warranty coverage. With this, the difference between a brand new car and a certified pre-owned Porsche has become quite undistinguishable.

Visit Brian Harris Porsche to learn more about the Porsche Approved pre-owned vehicle program. The foremost pre-owned Porsche dealer in Baton Rouge and New Orleans Louisiana also has a wide array of new and used Porsche models with special offers.
